{Getting Ready}

There are many ways to prepare for the big day in terms of your overall beauty, and so many ways in fact, things could get a little overwhelming. But we’re here to help and give you what we find to be the most important things in getting ready, and of course looking amazing, for your wedding day.

Bridal Beauty 101

{Lemon Water}

1.) Oh, yes. You guessed it. WATER.

It’s definitely no secret. Water is amazing. Water hydrates you, gives you energy and even helps with weight loss. Add some lemon or cucumbers if you’d like a different taste. Plus, lemon in your water has tons of benefits, especially a warm cup of lemon water first thing in the morning. Really sets up the whole day to be positive.

2.) Exfoliating & Moisturize

Exfoliating the face and body are essential in getting that beautiful bridal glow and definitely something you want to do before any sort of tanning. In terms of a great at-home facial exfoliator, we love Origins Never A Dull Moment Skin-Brightening Face Polish. For the body, try Herbivore Coco Rose Coconut Oil Body Polish. Not only does it do the trick, but it smells like you walked right past the wedding day and are already on your honeymoon in the tropics!

3.) Exercise

You hear it all the time and for good reason. Exercising is not only good for getting bridal ready, but your overall health. Getting into a workout routine months before the wedding is an excellent idea, but we suggest making sure you change up the routine every so often to make sure you’re body is getting the change you desire. Sometimes doing the same exercise routine over and again plateaus and the body gets used to it.

And by the way, with a throwback to our drinking water above. Exercising without having had plenty of water beforehand can slow down your body when working out. So best practice is start drinking water two hours before you hit the gym. Now if you workout first thing in the morning, leave a bottle of water next to your bed, so you can start drinking right when you wake up. Of course, make sure to keep drinking water during and after exercise.

4.) Whitening Your Teeth

A whitening treatment, whether at your dentist or with an at-home treatment, is best done a month before. Especially with at-home treatments, if you feel as you get close to the big day that you want them even whiter, you have time to head into your dentist to get them professionally done. You definitely want to show off those pearly whites!

5.) Practice Your Self Tanning

Some brides tan and some do not. So don’t feel that it is a must do. You are beautiful just as you are and if you want to do it, we say go for it. We do suggest starting a few months before the big day so you have plenty of time to decide upon your favorite method. Try airbrushing or even an at-home sunless tanner. We have had great experiences with Tropez, but again, find what works best for you and once you’ve decided, make sure to schedule that time before the wedding to do it. Second and third day always seem to be the best for the “look” as this will have given your tan plenty of time to set in and shouldn’t get all over your white dress.

{Healthy Fajitas}

6.) Nutrition

Yep. Nutrition. But we certainly don’t mean doing anything crazy. You are beautiful exactly the way you are, but there are some foods that are good to stay away from because of things like those pesky breakouts. Like greasy fries and pizza. Oh, they taste amazing, but it seems like the very next day we seem to have at least one making a presence. Alcohol is another factor. The dehydration is one thing, giving you red and blotchy cheeks, but too much alcohol can also make a breakout appear.

The best way to make sure you stay on track is meal planning and eating out less. Pick foods that nourish you and make you feel great. We definitely don’t recommend starving yourself.

7.) Take Your B’s and C’s

Multivitamins are definitely on our essentials list as your B complex promotes healthy strong hair and glossy nails. Collagen and Vitamin C are also really great for overall body health. You can find these great supplements at your local grocery store or at any health food store.

8.) Beauty Sleep

Yes! We love sleep and make sure it is vital in our daily routine, as you can make it for yours. But most definitely the week before your wedding and any of your wedding activities to make sure you are looking your best. You might be so excited that you find it hard to fall asleep, so perhaps using a sound machine or asking Alexa to play some gentle ocean sounds will help drift you off to blissful REM.

{Rose & Chamomile DIY Facial}

9.) A (Gentle) Facial

Some people gets facials once a month, but we’ve heard and suggest starting 3 months before the wedding and at least getting a very gentle one a month to two weeks before is best. Facials have a tendency to bring out blemishes, but can also give your skin that bright beautiful glow. At least two weeks before the wedding will allow that blemish to subside and you’ll maintain that pretty glow.

10.) Most Important: DESTRESS

Meditate, fill up the tub for a bubble bath and schedule some massages! There’s so much going on as you get closer to the wedding and for your sanity, any way to destress and relax is essential. However you like to make that happen, make it happen. You will be patting yourself on the back for taking such good care of yourself.
